Oh yeah, the reason the retail shops are charging so much more to install your bindings (upards of $50), is because you either bought all your stuff on-line, or you got your Salomon/Atomic deal through your Arcteryx job. If you are unsure and don't know all the tricks, you are more likely to screw you new equipment up and it will end up costing you more than the $50 in the end. All I will say, if you are confident and have some experience (like some of the people above), you will have some success. I have free mounted or paper jig mounted hundreds of skis over the years. If you are mounting alpine, where you are trying to ski at speed on groomed surfaces, one crooked toe piece will make you ski suck. None of this matters if you are just doing touring crap or tele stuff, the equipment (boot and binding) are so likeley to be inacurate, that you can go ahead and drill wherever and be fine. You can but a mounting drill bit about $30, then you need the right glue, then you have the chance of getting it crooked (thus the binding jig). ETC ETC ETC.įor $50 to have a shop guarantee the work, how f'n cheap can you be. If you cannot pull it out at all, then it is too tight.Just don't slip, or drill in the wrong spot, or forget to put on some sort of stop mechanism.
adjust the gap until you can pull the gage out and expose the green check mark and not the red x. Simply place the folded gage between the boot and binding. Marker provides a nice gage to ensure the toe piece is adjusted correctly. This is adjusted with a screw at the front of the toe piece as shown below. The Marker Duke, Baron, and Tour toe plates are adjustable to fit alpine or touring bindings. Once the DIN is set you will want to adjust the toe plate. The DIN setting is simple the toe piece (on the side) and heel piece (just behind the red indicator gage) each have a screw that adjusts the spring tension. However, if you choose to do it yourself, Marker provides instructions. This is where I'm supposed to recommend you have this done at your local ski shop so they can properly test release of the boot. Once the bindings are mounted you will have to adjust the binding properly for you boot.
